Midsummer House Retains it's Two Michelin Star Status

January 2007

Midsummer House is delighted to announce that it has retained it’s second Michelin star. Awarded to the Cambridge based restaurant in 2005, the star symbolises the continuing originality and experimentation of Chef Patron Daniel Clifford who joined the restaurant in 1998.

Awarded its first Michelin star in 2002, Midsummer House has become one of the foremost restaurants in the country which is recognised for its unique approach to haute cuisine. Inspired by French Mediterranean cooking, Daniel Clifford is an experimentalist, fusing together flavours and textures which provide his clients with a unique and memorable experience. Following the success of 2005’s second Michelin star, the restaurant was delighted to be awarded two Egon Ronay stars and in 2006 their fourth AA Rosette. Also acknowledgment was received by two national prestigious publications, both independently awarding the restaurant Best Out of Town Restaurant.

Now Midsummer House will provide its clients with a new environment to experience Clifford’s cooking. The restaurant is currently undergoing a major kitchen refit that will transform the customer experience. The pioneering glass design will provide guests with an interactive environment and will offer a tour of the kitchen that will show what it really takes to run a two Michelin star establishment.

Clifford’s time at Midsummer House has been fuelled by his determination to succeed and his fervent passion for food. His ambitions are now extending to a line of public houses, which will share the ethos of the Midsummer House brand and allow Clifford to explore and expand his creative talent furthermore. This will provide guests with an experience that is of the quality of its Michelin starred sister but with a new direction of menu. Located in Great Warley, Essex, The Headley is the first venture for Daniel outside of Midsummer House and will offer its clients a cool, clean and comfortable environment to sample the imaginative menu that Daniel will write.

Midsummer House reopens its doors 14th February 2007 and The Headley, Great Warley will be opening its doors, following its refurbishment during February 2007.
