Event professionals predict smaller and more frequent events in 2012

Two-thirds of event professionals have said they will be booking smaller and more frequent events, as opposed to larger one-off events in 2012, according to a survey undertaken by Venue Reservations at its tenth birthday showcase last night (20 February 2012).

The event, attended by many of the industry's leading corporate buyers, venue clients and agents, was held at Church House Conference Centre to mark ten years of Venue Reservations providing services to industry.

As part of the activities, guests were asked a series of questions aiming to determine future trends in 2012. From those who responded, the survey found that nearly two-thirds (65 per cent) of guests also believed that 2012 will see more events being held outside of London, indicating that improved facilities, budget constraints and venue availability during the Olympic’s may play a part in determining event locations.

During the evening, guests were able to gain a broader understanding of the Venue Reservations nationwide portfolio, as well as share industry best practise with peers whilst being treated to some exquisite food provided by the award-winning Kudos, which provides the food and venue management services at Church House.

The event, part of an ongoing programme of celebrations planned for 2012, saw sister-company Kudos, the food and venue experts, treat guests to canapés including saffron rice cake with hummus and teriyaki mushroom, and butternut squash risotto finished with sage butter and ameretti crumbs.

New venue clients at this year's showcase included The National Football Museum in Manchester, Cutlers' Hall in Sheffield and a number of venues in Royal Leamington Spa, alongside over 30 existing venues from across London.

The evening, which attracted almost 250 guests, also included various interactive social media features, competitions and ‘ten’ themed giveaways to support the birthday celebrations.

Jackie Harding, group director, Crown Group, said: “We are exceptionally proud of Venue Reservations and are delighted to be able to celebrate 10 years of providing free-venue finding and event planning services to our clients.

“We work in a highly competitive industry and we are proud to say that we have a very unique business model that really gets the best for our venue clients and events experts

“We have seen many changes in the industry over the years and whilst we’ve had to adapt to fast-changing times, our principles and values have always remained the same.”

She added: “This research gives us further insight into what event professionals are anticipating over the coming year, and arms us with the knowledge and foresight to be able to support the industry with their changing requirements.”
